  • I had LASIK done three weeks ago and couldn't be happier! I had no idea the impact it would have on my everyday life to NOT need to care for or worry about my contacts! I can see perfectly ... all the time!

I was terrified about getting this done, which is why I put it off for so long. Dr. Maloney and his entire staff were incredible with easing my anxiety and fueling my confidence. I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome!

I've heard from others that have had the procedure done that they felt like part of an assembly line (which didn't exactly help my anxiety!) While they were all thrilled with the result- I was definitely hoping for a more personalized experience...and I got exactly that with Dr. Maloney!

Thank you.... thank you.... thank you!

Great Review of Dr. Maloney!

  • I had PRK (a type of Lasik) done by Dr. Maloney in 2009 after I developed a condition that made it impossible for me to wear contacts anymore (a note to the wise, don't sleep in your contacts unless they were designed for that!).  It wasn't something I was thrilled about doing, but I weighed the alternative of always wearing my glasses and decided to go this route.  Dr. Maloney informed me that I wasn't a candidate for Lasik because of my thin retinas and advised that PRK was a better option for me.  From what I understand, the primary difference between the two procedures in the down time--it took about a week before I could see clearly.
For anyone who is fearful on the procedure, it was really nothing too scary and I don't remember experiencing any pain.  The whole thing was over so fast my mind barely had time to process what was going on in my eyeball (thankfully!).
This is clearly a busy place, but I felt the doctor made an effort to give me his full attention.  This was especially evident when I was in some unusual pain the night of my procedure and he returned my call at about 9 that night to discuss.
I do have some issues with my vision at this point, mostly these manifest as flares around lights at night.  Because of this I don't quite "celebrate" the procedure as some people have said, but it's not really the end of the world and if I had to do it all over again I would definitely still have used Dr. Maloney.

"Dr. Maloney gets an A+ in my book" | 5-Star Yelp Review of Dr. Maloney

  • After the annoyance and headaches (literally) of wearing glasses and contacts for years and years, I finally got up the courage to consider Lasik.  After asking countless friends and aqaintances, all the recommendations led me to one doctor - Dr. Robert Maloney in Westwood.

I went in for the $200 consultation and was a good candidate...And wanted to book my procedure the same day!  I had been leery of Lasik for years and had known friends who had gone through the procedure up to ten years ago but never considered it safe or tried-and-tested.  I am a risk-averse person and honestly, was frightened of a bad outcome.  However, research I'd done online, the consultation of friends who had had the procedure and the steadfast feeling that going through the consultation process at the Maloney Vision Institute and meeting Dr. Maloney himself allayed my fears.  I was ready!

The day of the procedure I was very nervous.  All of the staff were quite used to this and reassured me that I would be well taken care of, and I was.  The procedure itself wasn't pleasant (very weird not to be able to close your eyes as bright lights shine into it), BUT, they were completely truthful about it - it didn't hurt at all and was over very quickly (and Dr. Maloney has a very soothing voice while he talks you throught it).  And though you are meant to rest your eyes for hours afterwards, you can immediately tell that you have perfect vision.  It is one of the most bizarre experiences.

It has now been three weeks since I went through the Lasik procedure with Dr. Maloney and I am thankful every day for my decision to go to him (and for his excellent precision!).  My vision is amazing (20/20) and I swing between constantly being amazed at my perfect eyesight and completely taking my new eyesight for granted (though sometimes I try to push my - nonexistant - glasses up the bridge of my nose!).

I would recommend this procedure to anyone and everyone who has struggled with glasses and contacts.  I wish I'd done this ten years ago.  Dr. Maloney gets an A+ in my book.
